Our Calgary dog obedience classes create a positive, friendly atmosphere in which to both enhance your dog’s skills and your relationship with your canine companion. By applying the training concepts learned in class, clients will be able to teach their dogs the skills required to behave appropriately in real life situations and display good manners.

Basic Obedience Skills Class

Note: Group obedience classes may not be appropriate for all dogs. If your dog barks excessively around other dogs or people or displays highly aroused, over-excited behavior and is difficult to control in these situations, the “Settle Down Spot” program may be more suitable to meet your dog’s needs.

Basic Obedience Classes focus on teaching the dogs to display appropriate behavior and good manners in real life situations. Owners will learn key concepts/strategies to motivate the dog and train the dog according to its needs. Basic skills (Attention, Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Leash walking, Not Jumping, Leave it) are taught, using a variety of fun activities and positive methods.

• For 6 week classes, the cost is $220.00 (includes GST).
• All classes are offered at Scenic Acres Community Centre, 8825 Scurfield Drive NW, Calgary.

Better Obedience Skills Class

Prerequisites: Dog must interact well with other dogs and people. Completion of Basic Obedience Skills classes through Happy Tails Dog Training (or an equivalent course at another positive reinforcement-based training school) required. Dog must demonstrate competence with basis obedience skills (such as Sit/Down, Stay, Come, Polite walking on leash), and be ready for more challenge.

This class is a fun way to build on the basic obedience skills by applying them to more challenging situations, while improving the dog/owner relationship using positive methods. A variety of games and activities are used. Classes are offered either indoors or outdoors (seasonal offering).

Better Obedience Skills (Indoor Class):

• This class is 6 weeks long, and the cost is $220.00 (includes gst).

• This class is 4 weeks long and $180.00 (includes GST).
